Our Beloved Pets
Our Feathered Children & Furry
Fergus is our Blue & Gold Macaw . He is now 19 years old . He was the first pet macaw to ever be in our city . The pet store he was at closed and since then he arrived and continues to be with us . He was a year and a half when he joined our family .
Fergus is my first parrot ever and when we got him very hard to handle . It took us a while and later a session with a well known behaviourist when she came to Ontario ,helped Fergus and I bond with each other .
He can do some tricks as well such as Dead Bird and Rock a Baby. Fergus is always a Favorite when we do our EDUCATIONAL events . Hes such a show off for the children . His talking ability for a macaw is amazing .
He is an absolute fantastic bird and he is what started and is now our passion : Parrots
PHOTO OF FERGUS COMING SOON !!
Splash is 10 years old . We are blessed to have this guy with us . Splash is a Yellow Fronted Amazon . He is an amazing bird.We were asked to try him out , and hes now here to stay.
His family could no longer keep him and DID NOT want him going to the rescue in Perth County ,so he came here .
Splash only has one foot but adjusts well . We believe that he was banded and placed back in the nestbox with his parents and they chewed his foot off to remove the band. We are not sure who his breeder is so we can not get any history on his foot injury at this time . We hope to one day find his breeder to ask if they know .
Hes a great talker , and boy can he cuddle.
Splash is also one of our role models in our EDUCATION programs and enjoys meeting others .
Here we have Gracie . She is a Congo African Grey . She is one of our babies that we raised many years ago, that has come home to us. With ALL of our babies, we asked the new parronts to please contact us if they need to ever rehome one of our babies . They always have a home with us .
Gracies parronts decided that it was in Gracies BEST INTEREST to come home to mommy as thier lives changed , got busier and they felt she needed more time spent with her then they were able to offer.
Her vocabulary includes : Wanna go for a walk , Lets Go, Police Sirens , Short and Long distance phone ring, lets go , come here and many many more sounds and words . Kasha and Gracie do bark at one another too . Gracie also barks at people and other birds as well . Our nickname for her is "BabyCakes" .
She continues to amaze us with learning new words and sounds all the time.
Toesy is our Severe Mini Macaw . He is a DNA Sexed Male . We have had him since a baby . He is now 14 years old . He wasnt the best behaved baby bird and he used to bite everyone including customers , but he wouldnt bite me . He would not sell. I was given the option to purchase him or he was going to be future breeder . So home he came with me . He isnt that friendly today either as hes now mature, but very well loved. He does have his rare cuddle moment , but on his terms.
We are in the process of introducing "Toesy" to a potential female in the summer 2008. He has been with us for aprox 15 years and we will hold back one of his babies as a future pet if and when they breed . He has really bonded with the selected female we have. We are excited about this and for Toesy . We thought it would be Toesys best interest and if we had a chance of success , he would be best off remaining with us .
Here we have "Marcello" . Marcello is almost an 08 New Year Baby and is our precious DNA sexed Male Cinnamon Green Cheek Conure. He loves his fuzzy fake furry happy hut and is in and out of it all day and sleeps in it at night. Marcello when excited loves to "bop" really fast up and down while hopping around. He is so hilarious . Hes a snuggler and loves to cuddle in my neck . Welcome to the "zoo" Marcello , we love you very much. Just love the hawk look head and the coloring of this mutation.
INTRODUCING MY BELOVED KASHA
Kasha has been with us since a puppy . She is a very talented special dog . She is used as a personal guard dog , special needs dog and most of all a wonderful friend and birdy mom.
She is a Lab Rottie Mix . We nickname her our "Black Macaw" . Others nickname her "Cujo" as shes very protective of us and the birds.
She is absolutely wonderful around the birds , and she just LOVES it when we are handfeeding . She truely believes they are "her" babies .
